Writer-to-Writer is a Creative Writing Fellow initiative/resource aimed to provide peer-to-peer support for single, longer-form creative writing projects. As creative writers, and trained Barnard Writing Fellows, we can act as attentive (and consistent!) readers of your work as you embark on any part of the writing process. Students can meet with a fellow weekly or biweekly to receive consistent feedback and support on their projects. Fill out the form here.

These drop-in hours are tailored to students and creative writing students seeking support on writing samples for class, graduate programs, or department applications. Flexible and open, drop-in hours allows students to meet one-on-one with a Creative Writing Fellow to receive specific feedback and attentive support on any of their writing.

In Class
We work with professors to design in-class workshops tailored for your class that engage students with a variety of writing prompts, revision tools, drafting ideas, and more.
Out of Class
The Creative Writing Fellows offer two out of class workshops every semester geared towards generating or revising writing. These workshops are designed to be dynamic and engaging, and for anyone interested in creative writing.

Creative Writing Fellows can meet with creative writing students to discuss all stages of their writing process for assignments in your class— brainstorming, revising, editing, receiving feedback, and more. Recognizing the unique needs of creative writers, our Fellows support students in not only developing their creative work, but also nurturing their creative process. Rather than working with writers on a single draft, we hope to act as readers for writers between drafts, and across drafts.

Author and essayist Divya Victor will be coming to Barnard on 9/24 for her interactive talk/workshop (RSVP here) and to also discuss and share her upcoming essay collection KIN (2027) and previous collection CURB (2021)! In honor of her visit to campus, the Creative Writing Fellows will be hosting a book club to read and discuss her essay collection CURB, a "profound act of poetic debridement for the South Asian American diaspora, and an insistent plea to resist erasure" (NPR). There will be two separate sessions (9/22 & 9/23), and participants are welcome to attend one or both. Copies of CURB will be provided for attendees--- we hope to see you there!
About the book: CURB maps our post-9/11 political landscape by locating the wounds of domestic terrorism at unacknowledged sites of racial and religious conflict across cities and suburbs of the United States.
Divya Victor documents how immigrants and Americans navigate the liminal sites of everyday living: lawns, curbs, and sidewalks undergirded by violence but also constantly repaved with new possibilities of belonging. CURB witnesses immigrant survival, familial bonds, and interracial parenting in the context of nationalist and white-supremacist violence against South Asians. The book refutes the binary of the model minority and the monstrous, dark “other” by reclaiming the throbbing, many-tongued, vermillion heart of kith.
